1. High Potential Individual (HPI) Visa:

A High Potential Individual Visa grants you permission to stay in the UK for a period of at least 2 years. But if you have a Ph.D. or other doctoral qualification, you can stay for 3 years

But you must have a qualification from an eligible university in the last 5 years.

Note: You cannot extend your HPI visa, but you may be able to switch to a different visa, like a Skilled worker visa.

You can only study with an HPI visa if the course you selected is not eligible for a student visa. If your course is eligible for a student visa, you can apply for a student visa instead.

How to Apply for a High Potential Individual (HPI) Visa?

  • You must apply for an HPI visa online

  • How you apply depends on whether you are:

    • Outside the UK and are coming to the UK

    • Inside the UK and switching from a different visa

  • Your partner and children can apply to stay with you in the UK as your dependents if they are eligible.

You need to prove your identity and provide your documents in the process of your application.

Once you have applied online, proved your identity, and provided your documents, you will usually get a response on your visa application within:

  • 3 weeks if you are living outside the UK

  • 8 weeks if you are living in the UK
