Fellowship Information
This fellowship generously supports a select number of fellows each year, divided between the global English bureau and the Spanish-language bureau, Mongabay-Latam. The cohorts, running from April 1 – Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 – March 31, comprise three fellows per bureau. Application deadlines are set for Feb. 10 and Aug. 10, with applicants receiving notifications about their status three weeks before the cohort begins.Benefits
Fellows are expected to commit to 10 hours of engaging work per week, producing an average of one story per month for publication on Mongabay’s website. The work is remote, requiring flexibility and internet access for effective collaboration with editors. Monetary support of USD 500 per month is provided for the six-month duration, acknowledging the commitment required. However, it’s important to note that Mongabay operates without a physical office and cannot facilitate work visas.

This fellowship aims to empower journalists from low- to upper-middle-income tropical countries.
